  • Billionaire Visits Liberia

     

    A Malaysian billionaire, Mr. Tun daim Bin Zainuddin has been visiting Liberia and has promised to help boost the Liberian economy by investing in its banking sector in particular and other sectors such as housing and tourism.On a two-day visit as special guest of the Speaker of the House of Representative Alex Tyler he said he will commence operations within a period of six months if granted a license by the Liberian government.

  • ULSU Faces 17 Counts Petition

    University  of Liberia Student  Union (ULSU), particularly the  Legislative Assembly and  Judiciary Council on Capitol Hill  in Monrovia.
    The group led by Students Amos N. Tubor Jr, Jallah K. Davies and Gabriel B. Saydee, among others took the legal action recently at the level of the Supreme Court of Liberia through a 17 counts petition for a writ of prohibition.

  • Nigerian Arrested for Passport Fraud

    Police in Monrovia have arrested a Nigerian National in connection with a Passport Fraud.
    David Neal, 27 was arrested March 25, 2009 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he had gone to front for a Liberian National identified as Washington Howard Nimely to obtain a Liberian Passport.

    Former Commissioner of the  Bureau of Maritime Affairs , Mr. Tiah J.D.Slanger and the   former  Liberia Permanent Representative to the  International Maritime Organization (IMO), Mr.  Mohammed Dukuly have reportedly defrauded the Liberian People and government with huge sum of monies. However, both Slander and Dukuly  have declined to response to the audit because ,according to them,  they  are no longer in the employed of the  Bureau of Maritime Affairs

    Mamba Point Demolitions

     

    Several homes in the Mamba Point area particularly around the old CID Road in Monrovia have been demolished by the Special Task Force headed by the Monrovia City Mayor designate Madam Mary Broh.The homes, all of which were attached to the Graystone Fence, were demolished yesterday on March 30, 2009, as a result of Government's efforts to clear alleys that contained structures.

During the trial on Wednesday April 1, 2009, State lawyers filed a motion before the Court, calling Presiding Judge Samuel Geevon Smith to recuse from the trial.

The Unity Party-led government of which President Ellen Johnson Sileaf currently heads has roughly four years to complete its second and perhaps last term in office.  Obviously, the question of who becomes Liberia’s next leader when Madam Sirleaf completes her presidential tenure bubbles and whirls over the political climate of the land.

Lord, as member of the comity of nations we have come this far boasting of being independent nation and people. It is believed that we are potentially powerful in all spheres of life given our age (166) and given the countless grace we share. It is believed in other parts of the world that we are proud possessors of the fruits of social and economic power. It is believed that peace and all of its accessories live in the same bed with each and every one of us.
