In continuation of its crackdown on dealers and users of marijuana and other narcotic substances, the Liberia National Police (LNP) has arrested and charged to court fifteen (15) suspects for the illegal possession of the dangerous subsrances. The drugs suspects include (6) females and nine (9) males. Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the LNP Headquarters on Capitol Hill, Police Spokesman George Bardue revealed that eleven (11) of the suspects were arrested during a raid on several ghettos at different locations in Monrovia and its environs.
Mr. Bardue named the suspects as James Fallah, Jallah Lamie, Eric Joseph, Harris Mulbah, Veronica James, Bendu Brown, Ruth Gibson, Sayiah Tamba, Lessa Woods, Sam Weah, and Emmanuel Robertson. Others include Bongo Dread, Oldman Moses, Doe Dee, and Musu Kelly. During police investigation, Mr. Bardue said it was established that one of the suspects usually boils marijuana as tea for sale; something he indicated that the suspect admitted. At the same time, the Police spokesman said a 30-year-old man has been charged and sent to court for alleged burglary. According to Mr. Bardue, suspect Augustine Toe was arrested on Lynch Street last week based on complaints by the Manger of the 'Bourigue Le Fanile' Business Center on Broad Street. The complainant had narrated to Police that on May, 5, 2010, unknown persons broke into his store and allegedly took away goods valued at US$12,850, Mr. Bardue told journalists. He noted that suspect Toe admitted during preliminary investigation, and that some of the stolen items have been retrieved from his (Toe) residence. |
