President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has congratulated the Government and People of Sierra Leone on the auspicious occasion marking the 51st Independence Anniversary of that country.
President Johnson-Sirleaf also expressed deep satisfaction over the historic, cultural and economic ties subsisting between Liberia and the Republic of Sierra Leone following years of bilateral relations.
A Foreign Ministry release says the Liberian Leader, in the message, extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to President Ernest Bai Koroma, and through him, to the Government and People of Sierra Leone on behalf of the government and people of Liberia as Sierra Leone celebrates yet another independence anniversary.
President Johnson-Sirleaf further prayed and expressed confidence that as Liberians join the people of Sierra Leone in observing this momentous occasion, the cordial ties of friendship will bring total cohesion between the two countries and peoples.
Meanwhile, the Liberian Chief Executive has assured her Sierra Leonean counterpart of Liberia’s fullest cooperation as the two countries work together for the realization of the objectives of the Mano River Union (MRU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the African Union (AU).
