The City of Monrovia and perhaps other rising cities around the country are certainly witnessing heightened acts of prostitution which seem to be triggered by the presence of poverty that potentially forms the core of societal ills that presently contaminate the social system of the land. For example, the seeds of sex are accordingly being planted all over the place bearing tempting fruits that men cannot pass by without taking a share.
The temptation includes the exposure of the bodies of the young girls who have become accustomed inhabitants of the kingdom of prostitution. It has become so rampant and understandable in the society to which nearly all men are being attracted. Not only is it cheap and affordable, it has become the breeding ground for fornication against the caution of the pastors.
The question of seeking love is no more the case since it is written boldly on the faces of the girls along the street corners. Thus needless to worry about seeking one as it is now like the spreading sand and the whirlwind that prevails in every domain to the disposal of the human person. However, the disposability of love is one thing and the accompanying adverse consequences are another.
For instance, its affordability is equally associated by possible harms including unsettled minds, the proliferation of street wives and husbands, the depreciation of the value of women and men in the society coupled with the pollution of our cultural values among many others.
In time past, love was a game of fairplay in terms of desiring for someone based on the true meaning of the word. Long ago, it existed with the spirit of confidence and security but now it springs upon the faces of the dimes and nickels. In other words, it is like a football game that involves so many legs. No one can absolutely claim ownership over a woman or girl nowadays because to every female love partner there are so many male shareholders. It goes to say that no one man can claim ownership of a girl as doing so means high risk. Love, like the game of politics, is now cradled upon deception, frustration and disappointment.
A man declared winner of the hour could be the loser the next day. As a matter of fact, truth no more exists in the game. Men too realizing the deceptive intent of the girls have developed the habit of going into love affairs with the mindset of not cleaving to these girls to make them wives but to satisfy sexual desires and return to base. The game of love can then safely be called ‘hate and run’ because it has little or no foundation on trust and confidence.
In the absence of trust and confidence, the roadway to marriage has become foggy, hilly and rocky. Trust and confidence are fundamentally the light of any social connection. They are the elements or pillars of love as far as human relationship is concerned. Patience is another essential factor that forms a significant vessel of love. It neutralizes the temptation along the way especially at a time when prostitution has become the way of life. Patience is the gateway to marriage because it holds trust and confidence and keeps the human mind focused. To be focused is to withstand the challenges of the time especially at a time when our social system is being undermined by foreign elements. To be focused is to resist the habit of casting one’s taste for material things which are closely associated by acts of immoralities. Immoralities destroy cultural values and grossly harm the human souls. |
