We used to be so closed not just as neighbors and the proximity of our residence, but the closeness was also reflected through the exchange of love, mutual respect and relevant inducement we would render each other in addition to mutually holding the belief that there is life perpetual after death.
We shared similar thoughts when it came to social and political matters in the society. We looked at life as being the general asset of all and not just for a few as many privileged people seem to belief.
We felt life required proportional sharing of joy and happiness as a way of maintaining the foundation of national stability. And we prayed together for God to sanitize Liberia that it may be free of thugs who have raised their desire for politics, eventhough they are not politically wise.
The name, Christ, was boldly ticketed on your tongue given your believability in the Almighty power of God. “Let’s give God the glory. He is our keeper and our protector,” you would always say in exchange of greetings. Indeed, you regarded Christ as the only path to eternal life and thus you always gave glory to Him.
Hence, as you take your final journey to the original world of our motherland- the world of no sickness and temptation, the world of no intimidation and suppression, and the world of true love and justice, may I wish you a peaceful and restful day along the way.
You meant no harm as you were always calm and reserved, bearing no malice and wishing no one harm. May you go in peace and tell the God of peace and harmony that the society you are leaving behind needs more surgery because the social, political and economic spheres are being corrupted and infested by leeches who seek to destroy the blood vessels of the nation.
Indeed, the society needs social and economic peace something you had wished for while serving your tenure here on earth. You hated all those who seek violence as a way of life; those who feel hostility is the best route to gain prominence; and those who hate to see others progress. You were interested in promoting the possibilities of others. Never were you trouble shooter because your nature was firmly cradled upon calmness and kindness.
May your soul forgive all those who may have provoked you to anger that they may equally bless your journey to the land of eternality. May you let peace and harmony tie together those you are leaving behind so that the light you started can continue to shine both in the day and night. The light you ignited should not quench because what represents man’s absence and refreshes his memory in the minds of the living are the legacy he leaves behind.
Let the tears of the children immediately dry out and that joy and peace should settle in their minds and hearts because they are left in the wilderness to find another breadwinner. May they be successful to get one like you who cared and demonstrated equal love and concern.
It is my hope that God will take charge and let peace of mind lead those you are leaving behind. It is my hope that your expectation as regards societal decency will come to pass. You had expected a society free of social and political violence; a society where mature politicians would handle the mantle of power; a society where national wealth would be equally distributed, etc.
May your expectations come to pass and let not those with sinister motives become state runners. At the moment poverty stands over the nation like puss in the sore while greed and selfishness potentially lead the hearts of most political managers. Greed and selfishness have boldly shown their colors within the oil sector. The blessing God has bequeathed the land is being threatened and could possibly turn into a curse given the way the oil sector is being handled.
Greed and selfishness are potentially the nature of the people of the land so that wealth intended for all is being squandered by a few. I wish God could replace the greed and selfishness inbued in the nature of these people with the spirit of selflessness and nationalism.
