Authorities at the Civil Service Agency yesterday embarked on a one day campaign to create human resources manager’s awareness and upgrade their performances.
The one-day workshop was conducted for human-resource related employees from the various ministries and agencies.
The workshop brought together 91 participants, who were drawn from 30 institutions including the various ministries, agencies and commissions.
Dr. C. William Allen, CSA director-general in his opening remarks explained among other things that the objectives of the workshop was to review the status of amendments and revisions to key Civil Service policies, processes and related systems.
Other points of interest the workshop embarked on included CSA Human Resource policies manual; Liberia Standing Orders for the Civil Service and Civil Service Performance Management System.
According to Dr. Allen, in the spirit of cooperation, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Government and Economic Management Support (GEMS) consultants and the CSA organized the workshop to give updates of polices procedures, and initiatives.
The participants also received status update of key initiatives; pay system, pension reform and Civil Service Reform directorate and redirected workers program.
“Reform of the pay and grade system is ongoing, where the 15 grade system has been reduced to 10 grades with steps for the possibility of an increment based on satisfactory performance,” Dr. Allen informed the participants.
Discussions were also held among the participants on the new processes and systems as to new hires and merit-based employment as well as the human resource management information system, integrated financial management information system, etc.
Topics discussed by the 10 presenters or facilitators among other things, included automated processing of payroll action notice through human resources, the biometrics system, the provisional review of emotional intelligence in the workplace as well as understanding the sexual harassment policy and what it means in the workplace. |
