As stated by Netflix, the royal family did not want to say anything about the things people said in the two-part documentary series.
In the new docu-series “Harry & Meghan,” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle open up about the early days of their relationship, sharing intimate details that offer a glimpse into their private lives.
The show opens with a note from Netflix stating that the royal family refused to give comment on the events and happenings shown in the series. Also, Meghan and Harry wrapped up all interviews before August, even before Queen Elizabeth’s passing.
The first episode showed Harry at Heathrow Airport on the day of “Megxit,” when he and Meghan Markle announced they would no longer perform senior royal duties.
Markle expressed her feelings, saying, “I don’t even know where to begin,” fighting back the tears as she films herself in her home state of California.
The prince confessed in the first episode that he had encountered Markle on Instagram during the summer of 2016. They kept their relationship “under wraps” from July 2016 until October of that year, when they decided to go public.
In the first episode, many of the couple’s friends made appearances, including Harry’s polo pal Ignacio “Nacho” Iglesias. They all vouched for Markle and Harry and how they were madly in love with each other from the day they met.
Episode one of the docu-series dives into Harry’s relationship with his late mother, Princess Diana. He also stated that he constantly had paparazzi following him around, making it difficult to enjoy his childhood.
Harry divulged that his mother, Diana, was “tricked” into giving the popular Panorama interview in which she talked about her life as a member of the royal family. Harry also stated that his mother was “harassed” while married to the now King of England, King Charles. However, the harassment only amplified once they got a divorce.
Harry was advised as a child not to react or engage with the paparazzi if he wanted to avoid their attention. The Duke of Sussex said that the tabloids were hounding his wife in a similar way to how they treated his late mother, Princess Diana.
In the final minutes of the first episode, Harry candidly admitted that he was “naive” when he made his relationship with Markle public in October 2016. Harry stated that he was aware of the fact that many individuals disapproved of how he relinquished his royal duties in 2020. but asserted that his intentions were merely to “protect” his family.
Prior to the release of their docu-series, Harry and Markle were criticized for including a clip where they claimed paparazzi were hounding them. However, this turned out to be an old photo from the London premiere of “Harry Potter” – years before the two had even met. According to the reports, the photographers were taking pictures of the star cast of the movie “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two” in Trafalgar Square, London. This incident occurred five years before Prince Harry met his wife, Meghan Markle.
Tuesday night, Markle and Harry went to the 2022 Ripple of Hope Award Gala organized in New York City.
After stepping down from their senior royal duties in 2020, the couple moved to California, where they are raising their son, Archie, and daughter, Lilibet.
The series’ first three episodes were released on Thursday, with Volume II coming out on December 15, 2022.
